Graduated in Piano Performance and Composition with the maximum marks and honors from the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Turin. Afterwards, he continued his studies for advanced Piano Performance courses with master Vincenzo Vitale, in Naples and master Giorgio Ferrari in Turin. He obtained a specialization UE certificate in composition, arrangement and conducting of soundtracks. His chamber, symphonic and lyric works, are often performed and recorded.
Among the prizes, in 1993 he won SIAE scholarship to attend an advanced soundtracks composition course taught by Carlo Savina, after he becomes his assistant in several masterclasses in Fiesole School of Music, Genoa Conservatory, Alassio LabMusica, etc. In 2000, he was a fellow in Bogliasco Foundation for the composition of the Opera “Grandfather’s house” (published by Sonzogno, Milano).
Luigi Giachino has composed ballets, stage music and soundtracks for several customers: Raidue, TorinoSpettacoli, Italian Ministry of the Environment – European Commission DG XI - Lipu, Turin Municipality, Giugiarodesign, Raitre, Turin University, Regional Dance Academy of Turin, International Help, Centro Estero Camere di Commercio Piemontesi.
Often engaged in concerts, masterclasses, and competition Juries. From 2004 to 2007 he was Professor at Turin and Genoa Universities and music producer in ExtracampusTV – Turin University. He has performed and made musical activities in France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Monaco, Syria, Slovenia, Romania, Polonia, Switzerland, Belgium, Turkey, Brazil, and Japan. Since 1986 he also carries out musical organizational activity for several public administrations, cultural associations and public authority, in 2004-2010, he was a member of the Council of Administration and then Chairman in the Municipal Institution “Moncalieri Musica Teatro”. In 2017, representing the Municipality of Genoa, he was a Mentor in UE project EMI (European Music Incubator). Recently he has recorded, with the flutist Giuseppe Nova, a new CD published by the newspaper La Stampa of Turin. Since 1990 he teaches Composition at “Niccolò Paganini” Conservatory in Genoa, where he is a Head of Composition Department, Communication Manager and a member of Academic Council.
